Drug rehabilitation is a very complicated process and as such, several factors come into play for a successful recovery. One of the factors that is important for successful recovery is the support of the family members of the drug addict. Drug recovery programs can only give the drug addict strategies to cope with the problems relating to one’s addiction, but the recovery program cannot force anyone to follow those strategies. It has to come out of one’s decision to change and recover. This however is not an easy task because even those who decide to change and to recover succumb to temptations daily. Recovery and Values for Men
In addiction recovery, there are many problems that a man has to face. They not only have to overcome their addiction, but they have to reshape their values in order to live a healthy normal life after addiction treatment. When a person reshapes their values, they turn their focus from addiction to something else in their life that can not cause them physical and mental pain anymore. This reshaping stage is harder for men than it is for women because men gain a higher dependency for drugs than women. Also, a man is more likely to relapse than a women because they do not look to the future like a woman usually does. Reshaping values is one of the most important stages in recovery for men. Without this stage, many men would not turn their focus towards good things, but more for the high they long for in addiction treatment.
