Methamphetamine, or more popularly known as meth, is a drug that increases alertness, concentration, energy, and self esteem. Methamphetamine has a high potential for addiction because it activates the reward system inside of a person’s mind. This drug is created in meth labs around the country where different chemicals that can cause harm to the user, the creator and to the environment because of the toxic gases released when this drug is manufactured. Methamphetamine can come in rock form known as crystal meth and powdered form. Users tend to smoke crystal meth through a glass tube that traps all the drug so the user can inhale it and become high. Powdered meth has more options for insertion into the body. A meth user using powdered meth can snort it through their nasal cavity, inject it by mixing it with water or liquid heroin, or swallow it with food or on its own.
